Preparing to reduce the price of aviation fuel
KATHMANDU: JUNE 4 – The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has decided to reduce the price of aviation fuel for storage of aviation fuel inside the Tribhuvan International Airport. The price of aviation fuel will be reduced after the authority is ready to provide land for fuel storage. Nepal Oil Corporation had been saying that the price of aviation fuel has gone up due to lack of fuel storage center.
During a discussion organized by Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Bhanubhakta Dhakal on Thursday, Surendra Poudel, executive director of the Nepal Oil Corporation, said that the price had gone up due to lack of land for storage of aviation fuel.
In a discussion with Secretary at the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies Dinesh Bhattarai, Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Rajan Pokhrel and General Manager of Nepal Airlines Dimprakash Poudel, Minister Dhakal also directed to reduce the price of aviation fuel immediately.
During the discussion, Poudel, executive director of the corporation, said that the price of fuel could not be reduced as the authority did not provide land to the aviation authority for fuel storage.
During the discussion, Minister Dhakal had directed the corporation to provide necessary land for fuel storage.
CAAN Director General Pokharel, on the other hand, urged the corporation to come up with a proposal for the required land. It is understood that CAAN is preparing to reduce aviation fuel by 37 percent as land becomes available for fuel storage.
