No new variant of Corona seen in Nepal: WHO
KATHMANDU: JUNE 3 – The World Health Organization (WHO) has said that it is not aware of the discovery of a new variant of Corona Virus in Nepal after the news was published that a new variant of Covid-19 has been found in Nepal.
The WHO denied the report after the UK-based tabloid Daily Mail reported that the new Nepal variant of the Corona was “challenging for a British citizen’s holiday”. After the news was published, the WHO denied it and said that the organization had not received any information on the matter.
Citing the Daily Mail, the Telegraph and The Independent also reported that a new variant of the Corona Virus has been found in Nepal and poses a risk to its citizens.
‘The World Health Organization is not aware that a new variant of SARS-CoV-2 has been found in Nepal. The variants in Nepal are Alpha (B.1.1.7), Delta (B1.617.2) and Kappa (B1.617.1), ‘WHO Nepal wrote on Facebook on Thursday,’ Of the three, the currently active variant in Nepal is Delta (B.1.617.2).
