Premature blast kills 6 militants in eastern Afghanistan

JALALABAD: JUNE 29 – Six Taliban militants have been confirmed dead and three others injured as their mine exploded prematurely in Shirzad district of Afghanistan’s eastern Nangarhar province on Monday, provincial government spokesman Atahullah Khogiani said Tuesday.

A group of Taliban militants was going to plant a mine on a road in the Kodikhil area of the restive Shirzad district on Monday night but the device exploded prematurely killing six insurgents on the spot and injuring three others, the official said.

Taliban militants have not made comments.
