Far-Western government’s budget passed by a majority amid protests
DHANGADHI: JUNE 28 – The budget of the Far Western Provincial Government for the coming Fiscal Year 2078/79 has been passed. The budget was passed by a majority in the state assembly meeting held on Monday morning between the main opposition party Nepali Congress, People’s Socialist Party, Nepal, and UML Oli group.
Minister for Economic Affairs Prakash Bahadur Shah had presented a budget of Rs. 30.33 billion for the next fiscal year. Despite opposition from lawmakers from the ruling CPN-UML and the UCPN (Maoist) during the discussion on the budget, the budget has finally been passed.
Pro-government lawmakers had earlier demanded amendments to the budget, saying they had brought the budget through intermediaries. Replying to a question raised in the assembly, Minister Shah on Monday denied the allegation and claimed that the budget had come with a legal basis.
Shah has also expressed his commitment to correct the duplicate, name, and address changes due to errors in the annual program booklet.
