Italy in the quarterfinals with the record
KATHMANDU: JUNE 27 – Italy has reached the quarterfinals of the Euro Cup. Italy reached the quarterfinals by defeating Austria 2-1 in the knockout stage match held last night.
Italy and Austria drew 0-0 in a goalless draw, with three goals in 30 minutes of extra time. Federico Chiesa opened the scoring for Italy in the 95th minute, while Matteo Pessina doubled the lead in the 105th minute.
But Austria tried to make a comeback in the game and in the 114th minute of the game, Sasa Kalajdzic’s goal was returned to make it 2-1. After that, there were no goals in the game and the game was won by Italy 2-1.
This is Italy’s unbeaten run in 31 consecutive games. Italy has broken its own record of 82 years ago. Italy held the record for the most unbeaten matches in 30 games from October 1935 to July 1939. Italy is unbeaten after losing 1-0 to Portugal in the group stage of the UEFA Nations League in September 2018.
Italy will now play the winner of the match between Belgium and Portugal in the quarterfinals.
