Demonstration against caste discrimination in Kathmandu [Photos]
KATHMANDU: JUNE 24 – Demonstration has taken place in Kathmandu against caste discrimination. The protest was led by active Dalit journalists, Nepal and other organizations saying that the reference to artist Rupa Sunar, who is also a journalist, has raised many questions. Dalit is a name for people belonging to the lowest caste.
They have also demanded the dismissal of Education Minister Krishna Gopal Shrestha for protecting those who discriminate in the protests.
Demonstrators carried pamphlets at the Maitighar Mandal carrying pamphlets titled ‘Matiyar Minister / Law of Mortality of Caste Discrimination’, ‘People are slaves on the date of caste’, ‘Ensure the right to live as human beings’. Signatures against discrimination have also been collected during the demonstration.
