5 killed, 4 injured in roadside bombing in E. Afghanistan
GARDEZ, AFGHANISTAN: JUNE 21 – Five civilians were killed and four others wounded as a roadside bomb struck a vehicle in Ahmad Abad district of Afghanistan’s eastern Paktia province on Monday, provincial government spokesman Abdul Rahman Mangal said.
“The deadly roadside bombing which targeted a civilian vehicle in Machalgo area of Ahmad Abad district at around noon today claimed five lives including a woman, two children and two men and also injured four others. All the victims are civilians,” Mangal told Xinhua.
All the victims are members of the same family who were going to attend a funeral service in the neighboring village, the official added.
The official blamed the Taliban militant group for the bombing, saying the armed group often conducts subversive activities to terrorize the locals.
The Taliban outfit, which is active in parts of Paktia province, has yet to make comment. (XINHUA)
