Demand for health assistance including corona vaccine
BIRATNAGAR: JUNE 20 – The Biratnagar Metropolitan City has appealed to the international community to help in addressing the health problems caused by the Corona Virus.
Stating that the federal and state governments have not been able to easily provide vaccines and other health items for controlling COVID-19, the corporation has appealed for help from international cities and various donor organizations.
In a virtual discussion with media persons on Saturday, Metropolitan chief Bhim Parajuli said that the problem was due to the government’s inability to provide vaccines and health items at the local level according to the population density. He said, “The procurement process has not been able to move forward as the permission of the federal government is required for the procurement of vaccines. The vaccine provided by the government is also insufficient. Complaints are on the rise. Therefore, the government needs to create a conducive environment for vaccination. ”
Parajuli said that countries that have worked directly with the metropolis in the past and have long-standing ties, sister cities and international organizations, the United Nations Development Program, Karuna Foundation Nepal, Health Environment and Climate Action Foundation, Rotary Club International and the private sector have provided great support.
Similarly, the metropolis has issued a press release calling for the support of the organization as in the past, considering the possibility of a new variant of the second phase of COVID-19 being spread at the community level in the metropolis and a variant of the third phase.
The body has been appealed to provide vaccines including oxygen, concentrator, ventilator, VTM, antigen kit and oximeter.
Metropolitan Chief Parajuli said that he was hopeful that the international aid organizations would support the appeal made by the metropolis and recalled the contribution made by those organizations and the nation in the past.
