Preparations for smart lockdown in the valley
KATHMANDU: JUNE 20 – A meeting of three chief district officers is being held to discuss the upcoming strategy of the prohibitory order imposed in the Kathmandu Valley. A meeting of the people of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur is scheduled to be held in the afternoon to discuss the prohibitory order and take necessary decision.
Preparations have been made to add a one-week prohibitory order by eased a bit some additional provisions. “We will hold a meeting today to decide on the next modality of the prohibitory order,” said Kathmandu Chief District Officer Kali Prasad Parajuli.
The Covid-19 Board of Directors meeting had decided to hold a ‘smart lockdown’ in the coming days. The COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee (CCMC) is responsible for formulating its modalities. But the CCMC has not yet made a final decision.
A ‘smart lockdown’ has been prepared to reduce Corona infection by mobilizing the country’s economic sector. Giving information that smart lockdown will be discussed in today’s meeting, Parajuli said, “How to use it, what is the format?” Whose role is what, etc. are discussed. ‘
The recently extended prohibitory order in the Kathmandu Valley is coming to an end tomorrow. The administration had imposed a prohibitory order on the second wave of COVID-19 virus in the Kathmandu Valley on April 29, saying it would break the chain of second wave. In recent weeks, the administration has been gradually reducing the prohibited areas.
What is Smart Lockdown?
The word smart has recently been used in matters related to information technology. For example, smart card, smart passport, smart license, smart toilet etc. But how can a lockdown connected to public life be smarter than information technology?
Krishna Hari Pushkar, CCMC official and joint secretary at the Ministry of Industry, interprets the plan to give continuity to economic and social activities by strictly enforcing health standards as a smart lockdown.
