Two dies in Jagdamba Steels factory fire

KATHMANDU: JUNE 20 – Two persons have been killed in a fire at Jagdamba Steels factory in Jitpur Simara of Bara district. The fire broke out at the factory around 8 o’clock on Saturday.

Both the victims are Indian nationals. The deceased have been identified as Pradip Gaud, 40, and Ramnath Mahato, 45, of West Champaran, Bihar, India, said Gautam Mishra, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bara. Three Nepali workers have been injured in the fire.

The injured Ram Kumar Bishwokarma, Indra Prasad Adhikari and Nawaraj Chaulagain are undergoing treatment at Birgunj Hospital. Police have a preliminary estimate that the fire broke out due to an electrical short while welding pipes. The furnace was damaged by the fire but the extent of the damage remains to be studied.
