Floods, landslides and inundation: 17 killed, 22 missing
KATHMANDU: JUNE 19 – As many as 17 people have been killed in floods, landslides and inundation in different parts of the country due to incessant rains from June 12 to Saturday afternoon. The deceased have been identified as 10 men, 4 women, 2 boys and 1 girl. Of them, 3 are in Sindhupalchowk, 3 in Doti, 1 each in Saptari, Kavre, Gorkha, Jumla, Arghakhanchi, Palpa, Kaski, Kalikot, Bajura, Bajhang and Pyuthan.
Seventeen people have been injured in floods, landslides and inundation. Of them, 10 are men, 4 are women, 1 is a boy and 2 are girls. Among them 5 in Sindhupalchowk, 3 and 3 in Myagdi and Doti, 2 in Jumla, 1 in Kaski, Syangja, Chitwan and Salyan. There are people. The injured have been taken to a local hospital for treatment, police said.
Twenty-two people have gone missing in floods and landslides. Of them, 15 are men, 5 are women and 2 are children. Of them, 21 are in Sindhupalchowk and one in Bajura. The search for the missing continues. A total of 109 people including 94 in Sindhupalchowk, 8 in Salyan, 4 in Dang and 3 in Kanchanpur have been rescued. They has been taken to various hospitals for treatment.
Police personnel from the concerned police office are actively involved in the rescue and mitigation of the damage in the affected areas. In addition, the police is working to keep the houses and families in different districts at risk of floods and landslides in a safe place, to remove the property buried in the landslide and to remove the obstructed roads with the coordination and support of various agencies and locals.
