Press Union creates relief fund for Covid-19 affected journalists
KATHMANDU: MAY 27 – Nepal Press Union has set up a relief fund of Rs. 1 million for the journalists affected by Covid-19. Badri Sigdel, president of the union, announced the establishment of a relief fund of Rs 1 million through a virtual program organized on Thursday in connection with the union’s 31st founding day.
He said that a relief fund has been set up for the purpose of providing relief in the treatment of Covid infected journalists. The Central Committee will deposit Rs. 100,000 and each working committee member will contribute Rs. 1,000 to the relief fund.
The chief guest of the virtual meeting chaired by President Sigdel was Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, special guest leader Ram Chandra Poudel, spokesperson Bishwaprakash Sharma and others. The Nepal Press Union, a benevolent organization of the Nepali Congress, was established on Jestha 13, 2048.
