RASUWA: MAY 27 – The dental service brought into operation by Rasuwa Hospital is becoming effective. The dental service started two months ago by the district hospital with the objective of providing treatment at the local level to the rural residents of the Himalayan region who are suffering from toothache is becoming effective among the people of Rasuwa.
The service, which started on Falgun 5, has been receiving four to five people daily and so far more than 200 locals have received dental treatment. According to dentist Dr Kabin Moktan, patients with toothache as well as problems such as fractures and need to fill cement have been coming in large numbers. According to the civil society, the problem of getting to Kathmandu at the expense of others is being solved and the free service provided at the local level has brought great relief to the rural poor.
Chairman of the Hospital Management Committee, Ram Sharan Kuinkel, informed that an initiative is being taken with the Ministry of Health to manage additional manpower including dental assistants in the hospital, which currently has only one doctor for continuous service flow, keeping in view the Rasuwagadhi checkpoint.
The hospital management committee has also brought an ambulance into operation under the management work. The Department of Health Services handed over an ambulance a few months ago on the initiative of Chairman Kuinkel to facilitate the treatment of the residents of remote areas. Doctors said that the ambulance management has been of great help in referring the complex patients who could not be treated at the local level to a well-equipped hospital for timely treatment. -RSS
