Death of Malla, the first state chief of the far western state
KATHMANDU: MAY 27 – Mohan Raj Malla, the first state chief of the far-western state, has died while undergoing treatment. Malla, who had been undergoing treatment for pneumonia for a long time, died at the Kathmandu-based Nidan Hospital at 7 this morning, said Malla’s then personal secretary Dhan Singh Saud.
Malla, who has been doing politics in Kailali for more than four decades, was a member of the Rastriya Panchayat and also a member of the General Committee of the Nepali Congress.
Malla, who had earlier been involved in RPP politics, had joined the Nepali Congress before the second Constituent Assembly in 2070 BS. Malla, who was appointed as the state chief on Magh 3, 2074 BS, was sworn in on Magh 8, 2074 BS. Malla has a son and a daughter. -RSS
