Defendant arrested for Rhino smuggling

CHITWAN: SUNDAY, MAY 23, 2021 – Chitwan National Park has arrested a man who was absconding after being convicted of smuggling Rhinos. Among the arrested is Sagar Praja, a resident of Siddhi VDC-3 (now Kalika Municipality) of Chitwan.

He was arrested on Jestha 7. The suspects was arrested from Thulechaur of Ghansikuwa in Tanahun’s Vyas Municipality-11. He was sentenced by a special court to 15 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 1 million.

He was sentenced by the court on Falgun 15 2074 BS. He was arrested while absconding after being convicted in three cases of poaching along with Rhino smuggling, said Lokendra Adhikari, information officer of the park. According to him, four absconding defendants have been arrested in the current fiscal year. -RSS
