Is the UK going to provide 2 million vaccines?

LONDON: SUNDAY, MAY 23, 2021 – Debate has erupted in the UK’s House of Lords over the role of the UK in the fight against the growing Covid-19 infection in Nepal.
The regular sitting of the upper house on Thursday focused on helping Nepal. In a very short meeting, the speakers were of the view that Nepal had provided assistance to every front in the UK and that we should assist Nepal in the current crisis.
In his statement, Lord Lancaster of Kimbolton had requested to provide 2 million vaccines to Nepal. According to Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, the UK has taken the initiative to provide vaccines to developing countries, including Nepal, and has distributed about 350,000 vaccines to Nepal through Covax.
Ahmad told the House that he had held discussions with the Foreign Minister of Nepal only two days ago and would soon meet with the representatives of the Nepalese Embassy here. Nepal’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom Lok Darshan Regmi also said that there was continuous dialogue with the concerned bodies here and there was a positive response.
Just a few days ago, about fifty British people, including the famous British actress Joanna Lumley, had written a letter to the Nepali government requesting it to provide vaccines to Nepal. Ramesh Raj Pandit, a social worker, has launched a campaign to put pressure on the Nepali organizations here through institutional solidarity through petitions. -RSS
