Bridge at risk due to rising water level in the river


CHAINPUR: FRIDAY, MAY 21, 2021 – The wall near the cross bridge built on the Seti River in the district headquarters Chainpur has been washed away. The cross motor bridge is in danger as the wall collapses.
The water level in Seti River has risen due to incessant rains since Wednesday night and the wall has been washed away when the river started overflow. Harishankar Joshi, a technician at the local road infrastructure development program, said that the Gabion net along the river was washed away and the wall was also affected due to the rising water level in the river. He said the wall collapsed after the Gabion was forged.
Elite Construction was entrusted with the construction of the 70-meter-long Pankot Bridge at a cost of Rs. 80 million. Although the construction company had agreed to complete the construction work in Chaith 2075 BS, the bridge was completed in Baisakh 2078 BS under various pretexts.
Although the construction work of the bridge was given to the construction company Elite Construction, the work of laying Gabion net was done by the consumer committee. Transport entrepreneur Kailash Khadka said that they were able to bring the vehicle into operation after the machinery was washed away.
