Health supplies sent by Spain are coming to Nepal today
KATHMANDU: THURSDAY, MAY 20, 2021 – A special plane sent by Spain is coming to Kathmandu with materials including ventilator, oxygen concentrator and personal safety equipment. Martine Soliman, Director of the International Development Assistance Mission (AECID) in Spain, is coming to Nepal on the same plane to hand over the materials to the Government of Nepal on behalf of the Spanish government.
Meanwhile, Spain has stated that it will assist Nepal at the bilateral level, through the European Union and other means. In a telephone conversation between Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali and Spanish Foreign Minister, European Union and Aid Minister Arancha González Laya, Spain said it would continue to support Nepal.
During the talks, the two ministers exchanged views on various aspects of Nepal-Spain relations as well as cooperation, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Expressing gratitude to the Spanish government for the generous assistance of medical equipment and supplies, Minister Gyawali said that the support received from the friendly Spanish government and people was very important to Nepal as it was fighting against the growing new wave of COVID-19.
Spanish Minister Laya also appreciated the role played by the Government of Nepal in facilitating the repatriation of its citizens who were stranded due to the prohibitory order.
