‘Indian variant doesn’t say age, let’s be careful’
KATHMANDU: WEDNESDAY, MAY 19, 2021 – It has been confirmed that a new variant of Covid-19 has been found in Nepal. At the same time, it has been confirmed that there are three variants of this virus in Nepal so far.
Also known as the Indian variant, this variant was classified by the World Health Organization in May 2021 as a global concern variant, according to the Ministry of Health. Ministry spokesperson Dr. Jageshwar Gautam said that a study is yet to be done on where it was found, what it was like and what its symptoms are.
According to him, it is not known what effect it has and whether the vaccine works or not. “It simply came to our notice then. That is why Nepalis have to be a little more careful, ‘he said.
This variant is more contagious, the spokesman said. Gautam said. “Studies have recently found that the newly discovered virus is highly contagious and high-risk in all age groups,” he said.
