Health worker of Birat Medical College beaten
BIRATNAGAR: TUESDAY, MAY 18, 2021 – Doctors and health workers of Birat Medical College in Tankisinuwari of Morang have been beaten. The health workers were beaten by the sons of an elderly woman who was brought to the emergency room of the hospital for treatment.
According to the hospital administration, Dr. Sudip Regmi and Health Assistant Nirdosh Basnet were beaten at night. Due to delay in treatment Nischal Shrestha and Anil Shrestha sons of Gomadevi Shrestha, 73, of Budhiganga-2 had beaten doctors and heath workers.
Morang Police Spokesperson DSP Man Bahadur Rai informed that Nischal, 28, and Anil, 25, of Budhiganga-2 broke into the emergency room and beat up the health workers.
They indiscriminately attacked health workers treating patients injured in the accident. According to Sunil Dev of the hospital, Regmi and Basnet sustained head, face and other injuries on the body. According to the hospital, doctors and health workers were attacked when the treatment of the elderly woman was delayed by five minutes.
The hospital has demanded strict action against those who attacked the health workers. Police said that they have arrested the two involved in the incident and started investigation.
