The weather changed from a cyclone in the Arabian Sea
KATHMANDU: MONDAY, MAY 17, 2021 – A strong cyclone in the eastern Central Arabian Sea is expected to bring normal to full cloud cover to most parts of the country from Tuesday.
Although the cyclone did not have a direct impact on Nepal, it did have an indirect effect, according to the Department of Meteorology and Meteorology, Forecast Division. The cyclone is still evolving and is currently moving north-northwest.
There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in many places of Karnali, Far West, Gandaki and Lumbini from Wednesday evening to Friday and heavy rain in a few places. There is a possibility of light to moderate rain in a few places in State No. 1, State No. 2 and Bagmati State.
According to Pratibha Manandhar, senior meteorologist at the Division, there will be only indirect effect of cyclone in Nepal and there is no possibility of heavy rains and strong winds. The cyclone is expected to last until Friday.
The department has requested to take necessary precaution as there is a possibility of thunder / lightning / hailstorm and hailstorm due to pre-monsoon activities across the country this season. The department has also requested not to do mountaineering in the high mountainous areas during this period and urged all to keep the weather updated as the cyclone is being monitored continuously.
