Tatopani reached 18,000 oxygen cylinders
KATHMANDU: SUNDAY, MAY 16, 2021 – The government has delivered 18,000 empty oxygen cylinders from China to Nepal. Today, 18,000 cylinders have arrived in Nepal by land route.
Ganesh Pandey, press advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and coordinator of the Covid-19 Transition Management Center, Ishwor Pokharel, said that 18,000 cylinders had arrived at the Tatopani checkpoint. According to him, the cylinders will be brought to Kathmandu after the Chinese government hands over them at Tatopani.
The government has brought 20,000 empty cylinders with a grant from the Chinese government after there was a shortage of cylinders. Earlier, 400 cylinders were brought from a wide-body aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation. Preparations are underway to bring the remaining 1,600 cylinders from the aircraft after the arrival of 18,000.
Similarly, a wide-body aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation is bringing 550 oxygen cylinders from China today. The aircraft had gone to China on Saturday to fetch the cylinders. On Saturday alone, 560 empty cylinders had arrived from Oman with the help of the Non-Resident Nepali Association.
The government has started importing cylinders from different countries after there was a shortage of oxygen cylinders for the treatment of Covid-19 infected people. – RSS
