Journalist Karki passes away
KATHMANDU: SUNDAY, MAY 16, 2021 – Shanti Ram Karki, president of the Federation of Nepali Journalists’ Channel Nepal Pratisthan branch, has died at the young age of 34 due to Corona infection. Karki, who has been undergoing treatment at the Manmohan Memorial Hospital in Kathmandu since the same day after the infection was confirmed, died at 8:00 pm on Saturday after undergoing treatment on a ventilator.
Karki, a resident of Jhapa, has been active in journalism in Kathmandu for the past decade and a half. Karki Times Chautari, editor of Janata Times.com, was a central member of Nepal. He was the co-editor of Saurya Daily. Chairman of Press Chautari Ganesh Basnet has expressed his shock over Karki’s demise.
Secretary General of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Roshan Puri has issued a statement paying homage to the late journalist Karki and wishing eternal peace to the departed soul. Corona has so far killed 13 journalists and infected more than 750. – RSS
