The rate of recovery is decreasing, the death rate is increasing
KATHMANDU: WEDNESDAY, MAY 12, 2021 – In Nepal, the graph of Covid-19 infected has risen and the recovery rate is declining. However, the number of daily deaths has also increased.
According to daily data released by the Ministry of Health and Population, the rate of infection among people tested has been steadily rising. In the last 15 days, 1233 new infections have been added. A further 683 people have died during this period due to Covid-19-related causes.
The total number of infected people was 33,561 on Baisakh 13, but it has increased to 43,794 by Baisakh 27. A total of 3,556 people were confirmed infected on Baisakh 13 and seven people lost their lives in the same period. The infection rate was 12.5 percent that day, according to ministry figures. The total death toll was 3,176 and the recovery rate was 91.5 percent.
Looking at the statistics from the 13th to the 27th of Baisakh, that is, on the 15th day of the month, 9,271 people were infected on the same day and 139 people died in a period of 24 hours. The total number of deaths reached 3,859 on the 27th and the recovery rate has dropped to 76 percent. In addition, 9,483 people were confirmed infected in Nepal on Monday and another 225 people lost their lives on the same day. Both confirmed deaths on the same day and within 24 hours are still high.
According to the Ministry of Health, more than 1,300 corona infections are in the ICUs and ventilators of hospitals across the country. According to the ministry, 1,084 people are being treated in ICU and 290 in infected ventilators.
