Damage to vegetables and fruits due to strong winds and hail
KATHMANDU: MONDAY, MAY 10, 2021 – The hailstorm and windstorm that has been falling in the district since last night has damaged millions of rupees worth of vegetables and fruits.
According to Information Officer at the District Police Office and Deputy Superintendent of Police Indra Bahadur Malla, hail and strong winds in different wards of Badikedar, Bogatan-Phudsil and Jorayal have damaged crops including vegetables.
According to him, Pomegranate, Aaru Bakhada, Sour, Orange, Mango, seasonal and Sweet Orange have caused more damage to the crops including Cauliflower and Tomato. Similarly, other crops including Ginger and Onion have also been damaged.
Yam Chand, a local and media person of Badikedar informed that the farmers were disappointed after the hailstones damaged Ginger, Turmeric, Orange, Mango, seasonal and Orange seeds, which were being taken as cash crops throughout the year, fell. – RSS
