18,000 seedlings of Walnut are being brought
KATHMANDU: MONDAY, MAY 10, 2021 – Eighteen thousand seedlings of Chandler and other varieties have been procured for commercial cultivation and transportation has been started by ship.
The seedlings have been procured from the Rs. 91.62 million grant program of the Regional Directorate of Agriculture, Surkhet and transportation has started from today. Acting Chief of the Agriculture Development Office Sharad Lama informed that 9,000 saplings were transported from Nepalgunj to Jufal Airport on a Summit Air flight today.
Lama said that the remaining 9,000 saplings will arrive on Tuesday as Summit Air has taken charge of transporting all the saplings. According to the Agriculture Development Office, it cost Rs. 109 to buy an Walnut plant from Turkey and bring it to Dolpa by sea.
According to the office, the information was issued on Sunday for the distribution of saplings to the interested farmers and groups in all the pockets and blogs of the district. According to the Agriculture Office, the distribution of seedlings will start from Tuesday and will be sent to Mudkechula and Jagadulla villages in Lower Dolpa. – RSS
