Drug smuggling in lockdown: Four arrested
KANCHANPUR: MONDAY, MAY 10, 2021 – While the government had imposed lockdown for controlling Corona Virus across the country, drug trafficking has not stopped in Kanchanpur, which borders India. According to the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, police have arrested four youths, including two Indians, in the last two days.
Police have arrested two Indian youths with 12 grams and 630 milligrams of gray heroin near the Nepal-India border post at Belauri Municipality-10 two days ago. The arrested are Krishna Singh, 16, and Rajendra Singh, 25, of Puranpur Police Station, Hazara in Uttar Pradesh’s Tarabganj Tehsil, according to the District Police Office. Police have earlier arrested more than a dozen Indian youths at the border for smuggling gray heroin.
Similarly, police arrested Prem Dutta Bhatta, 33, and Keshav Khatri, 32, of Bedkot Municipality-2 from Dodhara Chandani along with gray heroin, said Bharat Giri, Inspector at Area Police Office, Dodhara Chandani. He said that 14.69 grams of gray heroin was also recovered from the accused.
Spokesperson of the District Police Office, Kanchanpur, Deputy Superintendent of Police Amar Bahadur Thapa said that action would be taken against the arrested accused. – RSS
