Domestic and international flights closed except for chartered and rescue
KATHMANDU: FRIDAY, MAY 7, 2021 – International flights have also been suspended at Tribhuvan International Airport. As per the government’s decision to suspend domestic and international flights till mid-Baisakh to control the Corona epidemic, all flights have been suspended from today.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers on 19 Baisakh had decided to postpone both domestic and international coronation. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), all domestic and international flights have been suspended to maintain two flights a year between the two countries as per the air bubble agreement between Nepal and India.
Indian citizens coming to Nepal by air will have to stay in the hotel quarantine for 10 days after fully complying with the health standards. The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has listed eight different hotels in Kathmandu for them.
Chartered and rescue flights will be operated during this period, CAN said. The Ministry of Tourism will issue flight permits in full compliance with health safety standards in the case of domestic and international chartered and rescue flights. A PCR report with barcodes and photos of passengers arriving and departing from chartered and rescue international flights is mandatory.
To control the risk of Covid epidemic, the government has imposed a ban on various districts of the country, including the Kathmandu Valley, since Baisakh 16. After the first wave of Covid-19 infection spread in Nepal last year, the government had launched a nationwide lockdown from Chaith 11 to control the epidemic.
Both domestic and international flights were suspended from Chaith 10 last year. After the epidemic subsided, international flights were resumed on Bhadra 16 and domestic flights on Ashoj 5. – RSS
