Metropolitan Corporation disinfecting public places
KATHMANDU: THURSDAY, MAY 6, 2021 – The Kathmandu Metropolitan City is using large jet machines to disinfect public places, hospitals and security checkpoints to control the rapid spread of COVID-19.
Ambulances transporting Corona patients to and from hospitals have also been disinfected. “Even if there is a ban, some people have to go out for urgent work, so we are focusing on the place of evacuation, the place of security check and the hospital premises,” said Bidya Sundar Shakya, the mayor.
Last year, the corporation had disinfected public places as well as crowded places. Due to the epidemic, the government has closed 52 districts of the country, some in part and some in completely.
Meanwhile, the corporation has formed a seven-member committee to build an isolation center with oxygen keeping in mind the increasing transition rate. Chief Shakya also said that the metropolis has emphasized on the issue of building a mechanism in institutional cooperation as it would be difficult to manage manpower and resources by constructing structures like quarantine and isolation in small units for Covid control.
“If too many small isolations are made, it will be difficult to deliver oxygen and other materials and manpower to those places. Satisfactory services cannot be provided to patients in such places. There is no one to take responsibility if there is any risk, so we are Nepal Army, Nepal Police We want to increase their capacity by cooperating with the police and big hospitals, ”said Chief Shakya. – RSS
