Lost judicial personality: Supreme Court
KATHMANDU: WEDNESDAY, MAY 5, 2021 – The Supreme Court has said that the country has lost a true justice-loving personality with the demise of Judicial Council member and senior advocate Laxmi Bahadur Nirala Khadka.
An emergency meeting of all judges, including Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana, held today said that Nirala’s demise had damaged the justice sector.
A press release issued by Devendra Dhakal, Joint Spokesperson of the Supreme Court after the meeting, said, “The nation has lost a true patriot and judicial person with the demise of late Laxmi Bahadur Nirala Khadka, who has been active in the field of justice and law for nearly 53 years.” The meeting observed a minute’s silence wishing eternal peace to the departed soul and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
Khadka, who was also a former attorney general, died at the Armed Police Hospital, Balambu on Tuesday after contracting Covid-19. Born in Janakpur on January 2, 2000, Nirala made Kathmandu his home. He was appointed to the Judicial Council on December 7, 2008 on behalf of a lawyer – RSS
