Beni-Jomsom road blacktop started
KATHMANDU: WEDNESDAY, MAY 5, 2021 – As the second wave of Corona is hitting the country, black paper work has started in Thasang Village Municipality-2 Khanti of the Himalayan district Mustang on the Beni-Jomsom road section under Kaligandaki Corridor from Tuesday.
Sachin Sharma, sub-engineer of Sharma Gajurmukhi JV, the contractor of Package No. 3 of the Beni-Jomsom-Korla Road Project, informed that the 15-and-a-half kilometer road section from Kowang to Kaiku Khola in Mustang will be tarred from Tuesday.
According to the information given by the sub-engineer Sharma of the contractor company Sharma Gajurmukhi JV, the road blacktop has been taken over at a cost of Rs. 553.016 million. He said that there will be blacktop of oxalt technology on the road.
According to Engineer Sharma, the construction company, which has taken charge of 15 and a half kilometers of black paper and 1,300 meters of slope, has made 70 percent physical progress so far. He said that the work of black paper has been started with the aim of completing the contract work by mid-Ashad.
The road has been widened to two lanes. He informed that the work of turning and grade improvement and drain construction has been completed. According to Sharma, the road is being paved with a width of eight and a half meters. Similarly, black paper has also been prepared on the road from Jalathale to Kaiku of Package No. 2 contracted by Sharma Gajurmukhi. The contractor company Sharma Gajurmukhi JV has stated that the road upgrading work has reached the final stage except for Badarjung, Kavre, Ghopte Bhir and Rupse Jharna areas on the border of Myagdi and Mustang.
The 76-kilometer Beni-Jomsom road, which was opened by the Nepal Army in 2064 BS, has been upgraded in four packages since 2074 BS. Amrit Dahal, head of Omkareshwar Construction, a subsidiary of the company, said that black paper is being prepared on the 16-kilometer road from Galeshwor to Begkhola in the first package. – RSS
