Fear of infection in villages due to lack of testing
SARLAHI: WEDNESDAY, MAY 5, 2021 – Nepalis are returning home from different parts of India after the second wave of Corona infection spread widely. Although hundreds of people enter Nepal every day from the 51-km open border crossing of Sarlahi, they go straight home due to lack of testing.
Although it is said that the infection can be detected by checking the antigen at the checkpoints returning from India, the checkpoints at the district checkpoints are not checked. Baliram Yadav, information officer of the health office, said that there is less interest in PCR testing of the citizens even though PCR tests are being conducted at the health office.
Most of the local bodies in the district have announced a complete and partial ban, saying the Corona infection has spread to the villages due to the unhindered movement of people across the open border. So far, 126 people have tested positive for Corona in the district and four have died, said Shrawan Kumar Nayak, chief of the health office. – RSS
