Maoists handing over letter of support to government
KATHMANDU: WEDNESDAY, MAY 5, 2021 – The Communist Party of Nepal-Maoist is submitting a letter on Wednesday to withdraw its support to the government. According to Maoist leader Leela Mani Pokhrel to Makalu Khabar, the Maoists are going to submit their withdrawal letter to the Parliament Secretariat today. “We are withdrawing our support today,” Pokhrel said. “Friends are reaching the Parliament Secretariat with the letter.”
Earlier, a meeting of the Maoist Standing Committee on Tuesday decided to withdraw its support to the government. The Maoists, who left the government shortly after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli dissolved parliament, did not withdraw their support. After that, the Maoists were criticized for trying to form a new government but not withdrawing their support.
After the Maoists withdraw their support, the Oli-led government will be in the minority. Oli has decided to take a vote of confidence from the House on Baisakh 27.
