Free treatment of Corona infected at KMC
KATHMANDU: MONDAY, MAY 3, 2021 – Treatment of Corona infected will now be free at Kathmandu Medical College, Sinamangal, Kathmandu. An agreement was reached between the Ministry of Health and Population and KMC on Sunday to provide free treatment to Corona infected people.
With the agreement, Corona infected people will now get free treatment at KMC. The agreement stipulates that the cost of treatment will be borne by the Ministry of Health and Population. As there is an agreement with the Ministry of Health, the treatment of Corona infected at KMC will now be free of cost, said Dr. Sunil Sharma, president of the hospital.
“By signing an agreement with the Ministry of Health, we have made arrangements for free treatment for Corona infections,” said Dr Sharma. “Now Corona patients get free treatment at KMC.” A few days ago, free treatment of Corona was started at Nobel Teaching Hospital in Biratnagar run by Sharma.
Dr. Sharma who has been the KMC president since last August. Sharma had tested PCR at Rs 2,500 in KMC while the government had fixed Rs 4,400 for PCR test in the previous Corona epidemic. After arranging for PCR testing at a lower fee of Rs 1,900 than prescribed by the government, Dr. Sharma had received all-round praise.
Even now, when the government has fixed the maximum fee for PCR test at Rs 2,000, Dr. Sharma has made an arrangement to test PCR at KMC for only Rs 1,500. KMC, which has been conducting PCR tests at a lower cost than prescribed by the government from the beginning, is now offering free treatment to those who are infected with Corona.
