People still walk without masks, 33,000 on holding zone

KATHMANDU: SUNDAY, MAY 2, 2021 – Despite the rapid growth of the Covid-19 transition with the new variant, people are still walking without wearing a mask.

According to the Nepal Police, people have been found to be walking carelessly without wearing masks. According to the Police Headquarters, 33,715 people who were walking in different parts of the country without wearing masks in the last 24 hours have been kept in the holding zone and released on the condition of wearing masks.

Although health experts are urging people to use masks to prevent Corona virus infections, human negligence remains. Police Spokesperson Basanta Bahadur Kunwar informed that 1,086 people violating the prescribed criteria in the same period were released after being fined as per the Infectious Diseases Act, 2020 BS.

In the last 24 hours, the police have conducted 509 awareness programs and a total of 39,641 people have been alerted in the program.

In view of the increasing incidence of Covid-19 with new variants, the Nepal Police has launched an awareness program to implement the security measures prescribed to prevent the infection in view of the problems and challenges it may create.

Through the program, various awareness programs including the slogan ‘Let’s save ourselves from infection and save others’ have been launched as a campaign and 10 thousand 794 people have been distributed free masks in the last 24 hours.

The Nepal Police has requested all to use masks and sanitizers properly and wear regular masks through miking with warning message, vehicle inspection, display of awareness placards and other programs to reduce the risk of Covid-19 in different places. – RSS
