Chinese vaccine arrives in Indonesia

JAKARTA: FRIDAY, APRIL 30, 2021 – Vaccines against Covid-19 produced by Chinese pharmaceutical companies arrived in Indonesia again on Friday.

Communications Minister Johnny G. Plate said on Friday that 6 million doses of vaccines produced by Sinovac Biotech Limited and 482,400 doses of vaccines produced by China National Pharmaceutical Group (Sinopharm) had arrived in Indonesia.

Indonesia has so far received a total of 65.5 million doses of vaccine from Sinovac. In addition, a total of 84.48 million doses of vaccines, including those of AstraZeneca, have entered Indonesia through the Sinovac, Sinopharm and Covax facilities.

Meanwhile, the vaccine produced by Sinopharm will be given to a single group called “Gotong Royong” in the local language.

Indonesia’s Food and Drug Administration (BPOM) has recently approved the Sinopharm vaccine for emergency use.

BPOM chief Penny Lukito said on Friday that the vaccine against Covid developed by Sinopharm had been approved for emergency use. – RSS / XINHUA
