KATHMANDU: TUESDAY, APRIL 27, 2021 – The government has concluded that there will be no shortage of oxygen in Nepal. The cabinet meeting held on Monday concluded that there would be no shortage of oxygen. The government has directed the Ministry of Health to import 50,000 oxygen cylinders.

The government claims that only 20 percent of the oxygen produced from the oxygen plants in Nepal is being consumed. Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Ganesh Singh Thagunna has said that there will be no shortage of oxygen in the hospital if the available plant is operated at full capacity. It has been decided to bring 50,000 cylinders saying that there may be shortage of oxygen cylinders.

Minister Thagunna has informed that the Council of Ministers has decided to bring 20,000 cylinders through fast track method immediately. He said that instructions have been given to the Ministry of Health for this.

The Ministry of Health has instructed the industries that use oxygen to shut down until further notice. He said that the meeting has decided to add more beds in every hospital across the country.
