Motorcyclist killed in truck crash

TARAHARA: TUESDAY, APRIL 27, 2021 – A man was killed when a truck hit a motorcycle at Panipiya of Tarahara-20 in Itahari, Sunsari.

The deceased has been identified as Rakesh Rai, 24, of Sangurigadhi in Dhankuta. He died in the emergency room of Dharan-based B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences while undergoing treatment, said Deputy Inspector of Police (DI) Dukharam Majhi of Tarahara Police Post.

According to him, the motorcycle (Pradesh 1-02-040 Cha 5827) heading towards Dharan from Itahari was hit by a truck (Na 5 Kha 5823). Rai, who was critically injured in the truck crash, was rescued by other passengers on the highway and sent to B.P. Pratisthan for treatment.

A team from Tarahara police post had reached the spot. According to the police, a search is underway as the truck driver is absconding.
