People Leaving Valley, Difficult to get a Ticket!
KATHMANDU: TUESDAY, APRIL 27, 2021 – The congestion of passengers going home has increased in the new bus park in Gongabu. A joint meeting of the Chief District Officers of the District Administration Offices of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur on Monday decided to impose a Prohibitory order in the Kathmandu Valley from the morning of Baisakh 16.
At other times, public transport, which is forced to walk empty due to lack of passengers, has been carrying full load of passengers to its destination along with the decision on Monday. Chief District Officer of Kathmandu, Kali Prasad Parajuli, said that the passengers were given two days to go home on Monday.
Passengers have complained of not getting seats on long-distance public transport. Jayaraj Joshi, who reached the new bus park on Monday evening to buy a ticket to Bajhang, complained that he did not get a ticket. There is a shortage of tickets in the new bus park due to the shortage of long distance vehicles.
Pankaj Malla, human resource chief of Lhotse Multipurpose Pralika, which operates the new bus park, said that the congestion in the new bus park has increased since morning. Public transport has been plying from the new bus park to more than 65 districts across the country. The new bus park has been carrying 800 to 1,000 public transports daily.
The new bus park, built on an area of 161 ropanis owned by the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, can accommodate more than 1,500 public vehicles, according to Lhotse Multipurpose Company. Recently, the new bus park has been used as a multi-purpose project for the construction of international standard bus park. Chairman Engineer Deepak Kunwar says that he is working to make the new bus park of international standard.
The ticket counters currently operating in the new bus park have also been closed. Chairman Kunwar said that all the counters inside the new bus park have been closed from Baisakh 1 to make the ticket counters international standard. -RSS
