Government not in favor of immediate nationwide lockdown: Minister Gyawali
KATHMANDU: SUNDAY, APRIL 25, 2021 – The government has said it will not immediately plan a nationwide lockkdown. Talking to reporters after the meeting of the UML General Convention Organizing Committee, Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, who is also the spokesperson of the ruling party CPN-UML, said that there was no immediate plan for a nationwide lockdown. He said there could be partial timbering in places where Corona is seen, but not immediately across the country.
“There may be partial lockdown in hotspots and that only happens at the local level, not nationwide,” he said. He said that now all the citizens will be urged to follow the health standards. Minister Gyawali said that the government was not in favor of nationwide lockdown saying that the lockdown was only a chain break for a few days and only pushed the risk.
He said that the government wants to ensure that the economy and the lives of the people are not adversely affected as the economy is also deteriorating.
