Covid-19 risk, tightness at the main checkpoint
HUMLA: SUNDAY, APRIL 25, 2021 – Strict surveillance will be intensified at Simkot Airport, the main entry point to the district, and three other footpaths. It has been decided to take precaution in the district after the outbreak of Corona virus in Nepalgunj and Surkhet, the main places to enter Humla.
Chief District Officer Ganesh Acharya informed that the meeting of the District Covid Management Committee has decided to take strict precautions to avoid the Covid-19 virus. For this, a team led by a doctor and a team of health workers will conduct a strict check-up at Simkot Airport. Similarly, health desks will be set up in Kawadi of Tanjakot Municipality, Balukuna of Sarkegad Municipality, Bhi of Adanchuli Municipality and Rimi of Chankheli Municipality connecting Antar Pradesh.
Similarly, the three-page details of the citizens entering the district, residence address and contact number will be kept in the health desk. The person whose details are kept at the health desk will be kept in touch with the compulsory health worker for the first 10 days, said Prajia Acharya. Quarantine and isolation will be established in district level and all other municipalities immediately.
Dr. Tasi Aangju informed that there is isolation of three beds in the district hospital and there is lack of other treatment materials at a time when Covid-19 infection is on the rise. The increasing number of Corona infections in Nepalgunj and Surkhet has created more problems for the citizens of Humla. The locals have become panic stricken as passengers and daily necessities are being transported from Nepalgunj-Surkhet through the only air transport.
Hemant Bohara, a local, said that it was necessary to fly for a week in Nepalgunj and Surkhet after observing the condition of corona infected. Security and health checks at Simkot Airport are weak. Simkot Village Municipality and District Covid Management Committee have not shown much interest in releasing passengers from outside the district on the basis of tidal check at the airport.
Passengers from outside the district have to be monitored by health workers for at least a week, but this has not been the case. A similar situation was created in the district last year when corona was transmitted from outside passengers due to similar negligence and carelessness. There is no quarantine or isolation to keep the corona infected one day. The district hospital has a total of three isolations and there is no quarantine to accommodate the passengers coming from outside the district.
