Mega Bank taking farmers to modern banking
KATHMANDU: FRIDAY, APRIL 23, 2021 – Mega Bank Nepal Limited has taken a policy to encourage farmers for modern banking facilities. Mega Bank is rapidly expanding the QR code facility with the objective of encouraging farmers to use modern banking facilities as an integral part of Nepal’s economy.
Accordingly, Mega Bank has entered into an agreement with Shangrila Agro Private Limited, Kusunti, Lalitpur to promote digital banking in the agricultural sector. As per the agreement, Mega Bank has stated that it will provide banking facility and loan facility to all agricultural producers and sellers associated with the vegetable and fruit market to be started by Shangrila Agro in Kusunti.
In addition, farmers and vendors affiliated to Shangrila Agro will be provided free QR code, while customers who purchase vegetables and fruits using QR code will be given a discount of up to 10 percent or a maximum of Rs 500, according to Mega Bank. The agreement was signed by Mega Bank’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer Rabina Deshraj Shrestha and Shangrila Agro’s Chairman Ganesh Bahadur Subedi.
Just a few days ago, Mega Bank had entered into an agreement with Karma Group with the objective of encouraging potato growers in and around Kathmandu Valley. It also distributed QR codes to vegetable traders and vegetable sellers affiliated to Bishranti Tarkari Tatha Falful Bazar in Jorpati.
Mega Bank is confident that the expansion of banking services will be accelerated if the basic level farmers of Nepal can be attracted towards modern banking.
