Bringing chemical fertilizer factory into operation
KANCHANPUR: FRIDAY, APRIL 23, 2021 – A chemical fertilizer factory based on indigenous raw materials will be operated in Krishnapur Municipality-6. Nepal Fertilizer Industries Pvt. Ltd. is going to operate a fertilizer factory with an investment of Rs. 137.5 million from the private sector.
Work has been moved forward to operate the factory within the month of Ashad. The factory aims to produce potash, NTK and DAP fertilizers in the first phase. “We have been producing potash manure since last Ashad. The work of producing two more fertilizers will be taken forward by next Manghsir, Poush ‘said Umakanta Joshi, director of the factory.
He said that phosphorus in Baitadi would be used as raw material for manure. The factory operator has plans to import other chemicals, including machinery, from Germany. The factory aims to produce 10,000 metric tonnes of manure annually.
Construction of physical infrastructure for the factory has already started. Operators claim that the fertilizer factory will be the first of its kind in Nepal using indigenous raw materials. The area of the factory land is 7,500 square feet.
The factory is being run by two industrialists as partnership farms. More than 50 people will be directly employed in the industry. Chief of Krishnapur Municipality Karna Bahadur Hamal said that the factory was taken as a project of pride of the city.
“Farmers have been suffering due to non-availability of chemical fertilizers while planting crops. If the manure factory produces quality manure, the farmers of the far-western states will get relief, ”he said. He said that he is always committed to the possible support from the municipality for the operation of the factory.
