CANBERRA: FRIDAY, APRIL 23, 2021 – Australia has decided to temporarily reduce flights from India in response to the rising number of cases of Covid-19 infection in India. A national cabinet meeting of Prime Minister Scott Morrison and state and regional leaders on Thursday decided to reduce the number of flights from India by 30 per cent.

Passengers from high-risk countries such as India are allowed to arrive in Australia 72 hours before the flight by showing a health certificate confirming that they have not been infected with the Covid-19 infection. After the meeting, Prime Minister Morrison told reporters, “We will further limit the risk of departure to Australia at risk.”

He further added that “all the provisions have been kept in mind as the epidemic has lessened and will return to normal.” Australia’s decision comes after the number of people infected with Covid-19 in India dropped to 314,000 within 24 hours on Wednesday and Thursday. -Sinhwa
