Sandeep is the first player to play 100 games in T20
KATHMANDU: FRIDAY, APRIL 23, 2021 – Leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane has become the first Nepali player to play 100 games in T20 cricket. He set the national record while playing against Malaysia in the Tri-nation T20 series at the Tribhuvan International Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur on Thursday. In the match against Malaysia, 20-year-old Lamichhane bowled four overs and took three wickets for 42 runs. He has taken 136 wickets in 136 games so far.
He has taken 11 wickets in four games in the ongoing Tri-nation series. Lamichhane took two wickets in the first match against the Netherlands, two in the match against Malaysia, four in the second match against the Netherlands and three in Thursday’s match. Lamichhane has also set a national record for Nepal to take the most wickets in T20 international cricket.
He has taken 45 wickets in 25 T20 games. Earlier, the national record for most wickets was held by Karan KC. He has taken 41 wickets in 32 games. In T20, Lamichhane has played 75 T20 games in various franchise leagues around the world. In the T20 International, he played 24 games for the Nepali national team and one game for the World XI. He made his T20 international debut in 2018 in the West Indies. Lamichhane also became the first player to take 100 wickets in T20 cricket for Nepal. -RSS
