KATHMANDU: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 21, 2021 – The Supreme Court has ordered the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority to no longer carry out sting operations.

The court has ordered the dismissal of the sting operation in a petition filed by advocate Bishnu Prasad Ghimire seeking dismissal of the sting operation.

A constitutional bench headed by Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana comprising Justices Deepak Kumar Karki, Meera Khadka, Harikrishna Karki and Ishwor Prasad Khatiwada passed the order on Wednesday.

Advocate Ghimire said that the sting operation was against the dignity, privacy and liberty of the person as enshrined in the constitution and the provision of Rule 30 of the Rules of Procedure of the Commission (sting operation) was also in conflict with various provisions of the constitution.
