Adobe and PDF creator Charles Chuck dies

LOS ANGELES: SUNDAY, APRIL 18, 2021 – Charles Geschke, founder of Portable Document Format (PDF) and founder of software company Adobe, has died at the age of 81.

Geschke, who lived in San Francisco, died Friday, the company said.

Adobe chief executive Shantanu Narayan wrote in an email to company employees that the death of Geschke, known as the company’s hero, had deeply hurt the Adobe family.

Under Geschke’s direction, Adobe has developed world-renowned software such as PDF, Acrobat, Illustrator, Premier Pro and Photoshop. These softwares are very popular.

In 2009, President Barack Obama awarded Geschke the National Medal for Technology.
