Corona spreads in Sunsari Morang community: Market crowded, contact tracing closed
SUNSARI: SUNDAY, APRIL 18, 2021 – In the urban areas of Sunsari and Morang, Corona infections have started appearing one after the other at the community level and there is a danger of the infection spreading to the entire society if the local levels do not pay attention to contact tracing.
Corona infections have been seen in Inaruwa, Itahari, Dharan and Duhabi areas of Sunsari in recent times, while the infection rate is increasing daily with the possibility of Biratnagar becoming the hotspot of the second wave of corona.
But the local levels of Sunsari and Morang have not paid much attention to contact tracing and testing.
The local government is responsible for contact tracing and quarantine of Corona infected. Even in the district, the concerned local levels have been given the responsibility of conducting quarantine and isolation, but so far no local level has taken forward the work of testing, contact testing, quarantine and isolation.
One hundred and sixteen new cases of the second wave of Corona have been found in Biratnagar, the capital of the state alone, but there are signs that the second wave of Corona will be more dangerous than the first as the metropolis and the state government have not taken any measures to control the corona.
In the second wave, three people have been killed in the state. Of them, two are from Biratnagar and one is from Jhapa.
Corona infection was confirmed in 15 people inside the Biratnagar Metropolitan City on Wednesday. Thirteen people were infected on Tuesday and 11 on Monday.
According to the Ministry of Social Development of State 1, 179 new corona cases have been reported in the State. One hundred and sixteen of them are from Biratnagar. Medical Superintendent of Koshi Hospital, Biratnagar, according to Dr. Chuman Lal Das, the number of infected people has been increasing since the start of the second wave.
According to him, the number of people coming to check the Corona has also increased. He said that the infection seen in India has spread in Nepal due to the opening of the border.
Even though the Corona infection has spread at the community level, the local levels of Sunsari and Morang have not yet started any work such as raising awareness in the market and taking control measures in crowded places.
In Sunsari, some schools have been closed due to Corona infection. But the danger is even greater when the local level ignores it and keeps other schools running smoothly.
The Biratnagar Metropolitan City is going to resume the work of contact tracing which was stopped last year. According to Ramesh Karki, health coordinator of the corporation, contact tracing will be started by forming a team from Friday.
At the time of this epidemic in Biratnagar, Birat Gold Cup football is now in operation. Where thousands of spectators gather daily. Similarly, the locals of Sunsari have recently concluded the Presidential Running Shield Sports Competition with crowds.
The government has banned more than 25 people from gathering. It has also repeatedly urged to adopt health vigilance. But in Biratnagar, about 5,000 people gather in one place every day.
More than 5,000 people gather at the Sahid Rangsala daily due to the operation of the Birat Gold Cup at night. Chief District Officer of Morang, Koshahari Niraula, said that the spectators could not be stopped as they were playing football with prior approval.
Stating that the competition will be held for only two days, he said that instructions have been given to be vigilant. He said that vigilance has been adopted at the checkpoint as well.
