Safety training and health camp organized by Creation and Coca-Cola

KATHMANDU: MONDAY, APRIL 12, 2021 – Creation, in collaboration with the Coca-Cola Foundation and Bottlers Nepal (Terai) Limited, has organized occupational safety training and health camps for cleaners on the occasion of World Health Day 2021.

Coca-Cola said the event was organized keeping in mind the fragile state of working for cleaners, ensuring the theme of a good and healthy world celebration.

The program includes a session on safety measures during and after work, use of various safety gear, prevention of business accidents on site and use of fire extinguishers and other safety equipment for safe working conditions.

Protective shoes, hats, jackets, masks and gloves along with safety gear have also been handed over to the cleaners.

Considering the risk of fire accidents and other hazards at the sites, each site also had fire extinguishers and other safety facilities.

The health camp, led by Dr. Anuj Raj Kandel, provided medical checkups and counseling on the health problems and issues of the cleaners.

One of the other highlights of the event was the handing over of labor agreements to employees of billing sites.

The agreement is intended to formally assist balers in their working conditions and for the benefit of workers.

Speaking about the initiative, Anand Mishra, Founder and President of Creation, said, “The unsafe working conditions of the best workers endanger our environment and society, including their livelihoods.”

Pradip Pandey, managing director of Bottlers Nepal Limited, said, ‘Those working in the garbage and recycling industries face many occupational health risks.

The program reached 67 cleaners from six different bailing sites in Satungal, Teku, Balkumari and Jorpati.
