Muslim community protests against French move to ban hijab
KATHMANDU: SATURDAY, APRIL 10, 2021 – The Muslim community has been protesting since a French lawmaker voted in favor of a law banning the hijab.
Debating the proposed law on March 30, lawmakers approved a bill that would ban the use of any clothing or clothing in public to humiliate men and women.
In this proposal, young women under the age of 18 will not be allowed to wear hijab in public places. In addition, wearing clothes that reflect a clear religious symbol is prohibited in public places.
This proposal is part of the Separation Bill. It has not been implemented yet. In order to implement it, it must first get approval from the National Assembly.
Against this, the Muslim community has run the # Hands of My Hijab Tend on social media. France aims to strengthen the secular system, but critics have opposed the move. It is said to be trying to isolate the Muslim minority.
One month ago, Swiss lawmakers voted in parliament to ban the burqa and mask. The Muslim community in France has a population of about 5.4 million. French President Emmanuel Macron has said, “The hijab is not in line with France’s secular ideals.” A law will be made prohibiting walking on the streets wearing hijab. ‘
Surprisingly, France recently passed a proposal to allow the minimum consent age for sexual intercourse to be 15 years. In such a case, if the proposal to ban the wearing of hijab becomes law, then the minimum age for wearing hijab should be 18 years.
Muslim communities around the world have been protesting France’s hijab proposal on social media.
